The Importance of Using Bulletin Board in the Language Classroom

A bulletin board is an important tool in the classroom because with it we can make students learn easily, so we can define a bulletin board as a tool used to reinforce lessons, chapters and more. There are four types of bulletin board which are commonly used, for example

 Child-Created Bulletin Board display the student's works in the classrooms, parents can see what their children are doing and feel proud of them, Decorative Bulletin Board makes the classrooms more attractive,Conceptual Bulletin Boards, and the last Interactive Bulletin Boards. With these boards students can answer questions, solve problems, also make a survey, and is important to know that, so with bulletin boards you can summarize your class or review a topic already given.

We can mention some advantages of using it, students can not complain that resources are not in the open for their access when necessary, you can post frequently requested information, such as: class schedules, calendar. Great way for teachers to pin previous test answers and other useful materials without having to scatter them messily over desk. It is a great way to post up student’s art work if teachers run out of wall space.

But it also has some disadvantages, information is often ignored, waste of teacher’s effort, classrooms do not use them anymore. Something important to consider are the characteristics of a good Bulletin Board, for example we can mentioned is that it should be with finished edge, it must be fixed on the wall, it must be colorful and attractive, and it should avoid overcrowded display, so all these points are important at the time of making a Bulletin Board. In addition, a good Bulletin Board have lots of uses because we can use it to reinforce instructional goals, to communicate essential information, it monitors students, and makes the classrooms a more appealing place.

I really love the way we can make Bulletin Board and all the teaching strategies, for example: you can use it to make students work the main focus of a lesson. You can create interactive displays, interactive displays are the ones that have games, questions or surveys, I like the interactive ones because I learn more playing and answering question than just reading. When making Bulletin Board is so important to choose the location wisely because it should be in a place where children and people can see it and catch the attention of them, so try to be careful when you are looking for the space to place them. The most important key when we are making our Bulletin Board is the creativity, and contrast correctly the colors or the background, letters and the edge.
Finally, we can say that Bulletin Board is not just an instructional tool, it makes the classrooms attractive to the eyes, and also motivates students to be creative.
